The Turf-Tec Penetrometer is a gravity operated instrument used to determine soil compaction. The unit is calibrated in percentages from 0-100% to determine the need for aerification and to monitor soil compaction. A weighted shaft is simply raised then dropped from a known height and a blunt penetrating point enters the soil, showing the percentage of air space in the soil. This Penetrometer will show the surface compaction of the soil or the hardness of the surface. The Turf-Tec Penetrometer is also useful to determine consistency between greens before tournaments in relation to golf ball bounce. Will also give readings predicting ball roll on fairways and approaches.
